Mission

By working together in collaborative partnership, the CommunityConservation Initiative - 'Linking Projects in Partnership - Kenya’ (CCI-Kenya) aims to provide local indigenous community-led sustainable resource management groups & supporting organisations/agencies in Kenya with the following benefits from its various mutual endeavours:-

1. the provision of a much-needed voice & outreach for remote, marginalised communities via the new web-based forum, enabling them to share ideas and experiences with a wide spectrum of interested & like-minded groups/organisations, as well as the ability to access downloadable resources such as HIV/Aids awareness & other important health-care information, environmental education ideas, information about energy-saving devices & other means of sustainable resource management etc;
2. the promotion of community-led biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource activities & related income-generating activities (eg eco-tourism, production of energy-saving devices, honey & traditional crafts), which will hopefully help to generate interest from potential sponsors & donors as well as potential sale of produce & receipt of bookings for eco-tourism facilities, thereby stimulating an improvement in local livelihoods;
3. a physical, as well as a web-based link & catalyst facility between the above groups & other Indigenous CBO’s & organisations/agencies who may be able to assist them in some way (eg with relevant advice, training & capacity building, practical support &/or funding); whilst sponsors & donors themselves will also be able to showcase the successful fruits of their own funding & sponsorship;
4. help with on-the-ground assessment of ongoing community-based project needs, achievements & challenges, & help to identify appropriate ways forward;
5. if possible, help with access to, or provision of, other relevant project facilitation & project development support as necessary;
6. help & encouragement towards confidence-building, positive self-reliance & long-term sustainability;
7. use of the CCI-Kenya web-site to assist with the conservation, documentation & continuance of traditional local languages, aural narrative & cultural heritage.
